PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The development of high quality mobile software to agreed technical specifications and client/supplier requirements.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

• Produce applications to the agreed timescale in line with project plans
• Build applications in line with comprehensive technical specifications
• To create a product that meets the client requirements and where possible is bug free

KEY RELATIONSHIPS (INTERNAL)

Operations - To provide operations with a product that meets customer requirements and is bug free. To re-work any issues with applications within the required timelines to meet project deadlines.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop application software following technical specifications, in the required languages
• Deliver technical solutions in line with the production plan
• Address any technical issues and bugs as identified by QA to ensure that project plans remain on schedule and to budget
• Regularly record project progress on production system and implement any remedial action necessary to ensure it matches the original specification and meets company quality standards
• Ensure version, backup and archiving procedures are completed during the life-cycle of each project in line with the company standards
• Undertake post project review on each project to identify knowledge learned and develop process improvements
• Undertake any ad hoc projects as allocated by your line manager
• To communicate all variances from the agreed plan and/or design in a timely and clear fashion to the Team Leader
• Ensure that all actions assigned to them are followed through in line with the businesses expectations
• Identify options to address specification and technical production issues
• Ensure all code is kept within a secure retrievable location so that regular builds can be conducted in line with the release plan agreed with the Team Leader
• Carry out any other reasonable duties and requests as required by the business

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Must have 3-6 years experience of developing software solutions, preferably in the mobile sector or similar
• Must be technically literate in the languages, systems and applications currently in use by the Company and detailed in the skills specification
• Attention to detail is essential

SOFTWARE LANGUAGES REQUIRED

Essential
(3+ years) C#, SQL Server, Recognised Source Control Software
(6 months+) Php, Web Development Experience, Java

EXPERIENCE IN THE FOLLOWING SYSTEMS

Essential
Windows or Mac (3-5yrs)

Desirable
JBoss, Networking Protocols (at least one of HTTP, SMPP, TCP, UDP), Windows

EXPERIENCE OF THE FOLLOWING DATABASES

Essential
SQL Server

Desirable
Oracle, MySQL

EXPOSURE TO THE FOLLOWING PRODUCTS

Version Control, Defect Management and Configuration Management

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

None although a Degree is preferred

TRANSFERABLE SKILLS

• Excellent communication and written skills
• Proficient at technical design, OO skills and familiarity with UML preferred
• Good at working to deadline
