PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

To plan and implement the testing of system enhancements and application solutions following development activity, ensuring that production deadlines and company quality standards are met.

• All products that are deployed meet the company’s quality standards.
• Test applications to the agreed timescale in line with project plans.
• Check that applications meet technical and customer specifications.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS

External

No external relationships required.

Internal

Technical - To test all solutions from technical in line with release notes, agreed test plans and project time scales. To report any specific problems or areas of concerns to the technical team leader and agree new timescales should re-work be required.

Product - Review technical requirements to ensure that new functionality fits within the current product scope without creating future concerns.

Operations - Liaise with operations on any defects found on live systems, ensuring sufficient information is gained from the customers to reproduce faults, enabling Technical to fix the defect.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare and implement test plans for agreed system changes and applications to ensure delivery of quality products and services in line with production timescales.

• Test newly developed software, existing software upgrades and deployments to ensure that the Company’s quality standards are maintained.

• Capture customer requirements from the technical specification and transform these requirements into test plans and test cases.

• Record on company systems any defects found during the test process, prioritise, review and track the defect reports through to fault correction and final sign off.

• Review solution requirements with the product team using gap analysis.

• Review customer found defects and where possible reproduce these defects and then follow defect process through to conclusion. Report back to operations the final outcome for customer feedback.

• Work with development team to ensure quality of releases and resolve any recurring concerns or faults for future releases.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

• ISEB / ISTQB foundation in Software testing Certificate

• At least 3 years experience in Test Specification design and Test Execution

• Experience using test case techniques to derive test cases

• At least 2 years experience of Website testing / Handset Application testing

• Some V-Model / Agile Development exposure

Desirable

• Linux / Unix experience

• ISEB / ISTQB Intermediate Certificate

• Software development experience
