Which Tablet This Christmas?

Which Tablet This Christmas?

So have you got your eye on a specific tablet this Christmas? And I don't mean one to cure the hangover on Boxing Day.

Tablets stormed onto the market after the iPad was released about a year and a half ago. Since then, their popularity has grown and grown.

But why own a tablet to start with? Most people already have a PC after all.

Well, tablets offer great convenience and ease of use. Users don't have to go to the effort of powering up a computer to quickly check something on the internet or check their emails. They offer improved speed over many PC's and many of the applications available provide great user experience.

With so many tablets available though, which one will you be putting on your letter to Santa this Christmas? We have the run down of just some of the best tablets available…

iPad 2

First launched in April 2010, the original iPad has now been superseded by the iPad 2. And with it Apple now own 68% of the tablet market.

The iPad itself is thinner and lighter than an iPhone, offers FaceTime, includes the A5 processor and one of the best resolution screens on the market.

It will set you back a minimum of £399 though.

Amazon Kindle Fire

The latest offering from Amazon is certainly a lot cheaper than an iPad. It only offers an 8GB hard drive and a smaller 7" screen, but don't let that put you off.

The Kindle offers downloadable movies, songs and countless books and magazines.

Samsung Galaxy Tab

An extremely elegant Android tablet, the design of the Galaxy is very sleek.

Retailing at roughly £400, this is the main iPad contender in my opinion. The 10.1" screen is impressive and the hard drives offered are the same as the iPad.

The 8.9" version features a HD quality screen, faster web browsing with Flash and improved multitasking.

Asus Eee Pad Transformer TF101

What a name! There is nothing quite like keeping it simple.

This tablet features a detachable keyboard and trackpad dock, allowing users to use it as a tablet while on the move and a more conventional computer when they want.

At £429, this tablet is quite the bargain, when you consider that you are essentially getting two PC's for the price of one.

With so many alternatives not even discussed here, you have a lot of choice on your hands. But we will let you decide…let us know which one you want this Christmas (not that we are buying...).
