The Challenge

Since the first Sumer Sundae in 2001, visitor numbers have swelled with the event growing from a one day festival to a three day festival. Ticket fraud was a major issue for the event organisers with the number of ticket fraud instances growing rapidly in three years.

Summer Sundae required new security measure that reduced ticket fraud without impacting the thousands of people collecting wrist bands on the day.

The Solution

2ergo provided Summer Sundae a mobile ticketing solution that included wireless hand scanners to handle redemptions at the entry points. Each scanner was loaded with touch screen software allowing codes to be manually entered should this be required.

As each ticket was scanned, a real time check was placed via VoucherNet validating the ticket.

As the validation was done in real time, the scanner was able to inform the stewards on whether the ticket had already been scanned, was valid or already in use.

VoucherNet also provided all the necessary security checks enabling the stewards to admit festival goers faster and reducing the queuing times.

The Results 

Over 10,000 people attended Summer Sundae without a single fraudulent ticket being used at the wristband exchange. VoucherNet also significantly reduced queuing times to less than 20 minutes despite nearly 3,000 people coming through the exchange in a three-hour period.
