An innovative app that changes the way diners pay has scooped a
major retail award.
2ergo's app for PizzaExpress picked up the
title of best use of technology in the hospitality and leisure
sector at this year's Retail Systems Awards, which look to
recognise excellence and innovation in the field of information
technology within the UK retail sector.
The market-first iPhone app enables customers to pay their bill
automatically in a restaurant via smartphone at any stage of their
meal. PizzaExpress' app forms the gateway to a mobile presence,
also built by mobile marketing and business solutions company
2ergo, which incorporates mobile websites, voucher redemption, live
search and booking facilities, as well as customer interaction and
messaging. It also has full e-commerce integration with retail
partners including PayPal and the Torex till system.
The app has exceeded all expectations to date. It has been
downloaded more than 250,000 times in the first five months.
John Stevens, Group Managing Director, 2ergo said, "PizzaExpress
understands the importance of innovative and forward thinking to
provide diners with convenient and effective customer service and a
first-class experience of eating out in its restaurants. The
ground-breaking iPhone app adds real value to its brand."
