2ergo Launches Mobile Web Sites for Uno Medios Argentina to Capitalize on Growth of Mobile Internet
30 June 2009
Buenos Aires, Argentina – June 30, 2009 – 2ergo, a leading global provider of mobile enabling technology, today announced the launch of mobile Web sites for two leading Argentine newspapers, La Capital of Rosario and Diario Uno of Mendoza. The two papers are owned and operated by Uno Medios, one of the largest media companies in Argentina with properties in the newspaper, radio, magazine and television industries. The mobile sites will provide a new content distribution channel for the newspapers and expand monetization via mobile advertising opportunities.
"According to Juniper Research, Latin America holds the greatest potential growth for the mobile Internet," said Luis Galli, Uno Medios CEO. "Extending our newspaper content to mobile handsets is a key factor in our global strategy. These new mobile sites are aligned with our most important objective which is to keep our readers informed anytime and anywhere."
The sites were developed using 2ergo's Mobile Site Builder technology, which is also behind the mobile websites for Investor's Business Daily, Washington Times and Aberdeen News in the United States. Mobile Site Builder allows publishers to distribute and monetize content via the mobile channel. Daily news feeds, videos, slideshows, editorial content, classifieds, local weather, sports, traffic, polls, blogs and more can be easily published and automatically updated using Mobile Site Builder. Targeted mobile ads can be served through any of 2ergo's mobile ad network partners or via Mobile Site Builder's self-service ad inventory management feature.
"Uno Medios recognizes the value of innovation in the delivery of mobile content and is capitalizing on the growing influence that the mobile Web represents for media companies worldwide," said Chris Brassington, Group Managing Director at 2ergo. "As we're seeing with our other leading media clients around the world, including FOX News and the Australian Broadcasting Company, consumers are increasingly accessing real-time news from their mobile phones."
In conjunction with Uno Medios, 2ergo is also developing downloadable BlackBerry and iPhone icons that offer consumers one-click access to the newspapers' content, ensuring easier access and increasing repeat visits. The mobile sites are available immediately and can be accessed on any mobile phone with a Web browser at http://m.lacapital.com.ar and http://m.diariouno.com.ar. They will also be accessible from the Newspaper and Magazine section of Claro Ideas, the mobile portal of Claro Argentina, the largest mobile operator in Argentina.
