2ergo Selected as Finalist for Two Major Industry Awards
10 February 2010
Manchester, United Kingdom – 2ergo, the leading provider of mobile enabling technologies, has been shortlisted for two top awards at leading mobile awards ceremonies for its Rightmove iPhone app. The Global Mobile Awards (GSMA) and The Revolution awards have recognised 2ergo’s innovative approach to mobile technology and have nominated it in the ‘Best Mobile Advertising or Marketing’ and ‘Best use of Mobile’ categories. The awards take place within the first half of the year in Barcelona and London.
The Rightmove iPhone app, launched in July 2009, revolutionised the house-hunting process by allowing mobile users to search for properties by postcode or GPS and provides property information as well as immediate access to the agent through a ‘Call Me’ button. The app reached #1 in the iTunes App Store within the first week of release and has since gone from strength to strength with Apple featuring it in its ‘Best of 2009’ chart. With 320,000 downloads to date and its continued spot within the top five ‘free lifestyle apps’, the app 2ergo developed for Rightmove.co.uk is a great example of a creative solution delivering results for both consumer and brand.
Barry Sharples, Joint CEO of 2ergo, said: “We are honoured to be named as finalists at both the GSMA and Revolution awards, two of the most highly respected award ceremonies in the industry. Being shortlisted for the Rightmove app gives us recognition for a project that we are very proud of.”
2009 kick-started the age of the mobile app, and the Rightmove app 2ergo developed has demonstrated the unique power of mobile as a sales and marketing channel because this app can target a user’s exact location and provide them with the property information they need on-the-move. The ability to access information anywhere, anytime is an invaluable extension to the service Rightmove provides its users, all delivered through a simple and intuitive app.
For the GSMA awards the app has been nominated within the ‘Best Mobile Advertising or Marketing’ category, the aim of which is to recognise creative, brand and marketing leadership, showcasing ‘hot’ campaigns that are driving the emergence of this new sector. For the Revolution Awards 2ergo has been nominated for ‘Best Use of Mobile’, previously won by Nike in 2009. This category puts a great emphasis on innovation and awards campaigns which “leave a special impression on the minds of website visitors or mobile users”.
“Our congratulations to all nominees for the Global Mobile Awards 2010,” said Rob Conway, CEO and Member of the Board of the GSMA. “Competition for these awards is fierce, with more than 500 entries - including many of an exceptional standard - and a highly discerning independent judging panel to impress; to be shortlisted is quite an achievement. We look forward to the unveiling of the winners at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.”
The GSMA will announce the winner at the world’s leading mobile communications event, the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on 16th February 2010, and Revolution award winner will be announced on the night of the ceremony which takes place on 8th April 2010 in London.
